Clare Balding is a great after dinner and conference speaker. She is a multi award winning sports presenter who works for the BBC.  Her awards include the Royal Television Society's Sports Presenter of the Year, Racing Broadcaster of the Year award and the Racing Journalist of the Year Award.

Early Career

Clare started her career as a flat jockey and her enthusiasm for the horses remains to this day.  However she has the rare ability to feel at ease presenting within any sporting arena.  She has now presented the Athens and Sydney Olympics and the Paralympics in 2000 and 2004.  She also covers rugby league and presents the live coverage on Radio 5 for Wimbledon, on occasions broadcasting for seven hours non-stop during Wimbledon fortnight.  She has also co-presented Sports Personality of the Year on numerous occasions.

Spreading Her Wings

Clare has also spread her wings into non-sporting areas and has presented Crufts, Housecall in the Country, Trooping the Colour and worked alongside Cilla Black for Sport Relief in presenting Superstars.

With a degree in English from Cambridge, Clare also writes a regular sporting column for The Observer and has previously written for the Evening Standard, Sunday Telegraph and Racing Post.

Clare has been a guest on Have I Got News For You, They Think It's All Over, A Question of Sport, Test the Nation, Countdown and Call My Bluff.
