Paul McGee is an international keynote motivational speaker, facilitator and best selling author.  Paul has spoken in over 30 countries throughout the world bringing fresh perspective to common sense.

His Mancunian style of motivation is both practical and entertaining, as he addresses issues around dealing with change, handling pressure, motivating staff and delighting customers.

His clients include BBC Television, HSBC Bank and Shell. Paul’s work has been endorsed by the Elite Performance Director of the British Olympic Association, Sir Clive Woodward, as well as politicians and business leaders.

Paul’s goal is simple. He wants to help people achieve better results in life and have more fun in the process, as he seeks to deliver a memorable, motivational, moving on experience.

In January 2010, Paul’s book on Self Confidence reached number one in the WHSmith’s business book chart.

    Paul has a diploma in counselling and graduated from Bradford University with a BA Honours in Applied Social Studies.  (This incorporated behavioural and social psychology). Speakers Corner: How did the corporate speaking all start?

Paul McGee: The launch of my SUMO book (Shut Up, Move On) lead to a huge increase in speaking engagements and I have now spoken in 33 different countries

Speakers Corner: Can you remember your first speaking engagement?

Paul McGee: Yes I talked about the subject of motivation to a group of students

Speakers Corner: And your last event?

Paul McGee: A premiership football team asked me to speak to 150 of their staff including some players and their manager.

Speakers Corner: Which event has been your favourite and why?

Paul McGee: Being on the same speaking bill as Dr Stephen Covey at the Sydney Convention centre in Australia. The audience was very receptive to my message, laughed a lot and it was an honour to share the same platform with one of the worlds leading thinkers in the are of leadership and personal development.

Speakers Corner: If you could speak at any event, past or future, what would it be?

Paul McGee: The opening of the 2012 Olympic Games would be a nice one to pull off!

Speakers Corner: Who would you most like to share a platform with?

Paul McGee: Tom Cruise as we are both the same height!

Speakers Corner: On average, how many times a year do you speak at corporate events?

Paul McGee: Between 110 and 130

Speakers Corner: Do you use powerpoint?

Paul McGee: Yes, but I don’t use bullet points!

Speakers Corner: Are you as happy speaking to 50 as to 1,000 people?

Paul McGee: Absolutely, I have just spoken to a group of eight people at an event in London, but have also spoken at the National Indoor Arena to 6,000

Speakers Corner: How do you like to be introduced?

Paul McGee: I provide a script for people, but it normally includes the phrase “He is known as the SUMO Guy and he’ll tell you why”.

Speakers Corner: Do you always like to do a briefing call before the event?

Paul McGee: Absolutely, it would be unprofessional not to do so.

Paul McGee: Those related to change, confidence, motivation and leadership

Paul McGee: Yes, but I don’t get people to break up into groups and gather round a flip chart!

Paul McGee: I once went to the toilet with my microphone still switched on!
