Motivational business speaker, Ellis Watson takes on new role at FirstGroup

11th June 2009

One of the very best business and after dinner speakers on the corporate circuit, Ellis Watson, is leaving Menzies Distribution to take up a post on the main board of FirstGroup, the Aberdeen based company.

In a statement to the Stock Exchange, Menzies' Chairman, William Thomson, gave an unreserved tribute to Ellis Watson, priasing him for having revolutionised Menzies' business.  Ellis joined Menzies from four years ago from Trinity Mirror where he was managing director under chief executive Sly Bailey.  It is rumoured that he is now a front runner as successor to FirstGroup's founder and chief executive, Sir Moir Lockhead who is expected to retire in the next couple of years.

I am so pleased to work with Speakers' Corner again - the team made it so easy with Aidan Halligan and so you were my first port of call when I realised that we didn’t have a December speaker. I knew you would have someone for me! Thank you
