Kriss Akabusi Biography

Kriss Akabusi - Conference and keynote speaker, motivational
Topics:
  • Motivation & Teamwork
  • Sport

Nowadays Kriss Akabusi is one of the most prominent motivational speakers on the corporate scene. Additionally, he is a fantastic awards host.

In his past life Kriss was famous for his achievements in athletics where his greatest individual triumph was his Gold medal in the 1990 European Championships when he also beat David Hemery’s 22 year old British Record.  He began his international career in 1983 as a member of the 4 x 400 metre relay squad and will probably always be remembered for helping Britain clinch the Gold and beat the Americans in the World Championships 4 x 400 metre relay in Tokyo in 1991.

Royal Recognition

In 1992, as 3 times Olympic medallist, World, European and Commonwealth Champion, Kriss was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty The Queen in her Birthday Honours List in recognition of his services to the country through athletics.

Kriss Akabusi Breaks into the Media

Kriss broke into TV in 1993 when he presented The Big Breakfast.  This was followed rapidly with a full-time position on Record Breakers.  He has gone on to appear regularly on various programmes both TV and radio, anywhere where the brief is fun and entertainment.

What Kriss Delivers

Drawing on his wealth of experience through his life in a children’s home and his career in the army, Kriss explains and presents the importance of Focus, Innovation and Teamwork, which he relates to the business arena in the legendary FIT4Business© presentation..

Kriss’s passion and enthusiasm when delivering from the platform are renowned.  He now builds on his F.I.T©, the speech that has made his name in the corporate world.  Kriss uses the Hudson Institutes “Cycle Of Change” as a simple matrix to pour in his energy and experience and expand on the FIT© speech. This provides a suitable tool and anchor for organisations and individuals to work through complex change.

Kriss’ inspirational story is legendary and works well as a keynote at the start of a conference to fire up the delegates or as an endnote to close the meeting. I’ll leave the audience on a high, ready to deliver success in the arena.

Delegates will be inspired to be the best they can be both personally and professionally through:

  • Setting a vision
  • Focusing on goal setting for teams and individuals
  • Ownership and commitment to goals
  • Identifying and overcoming hurdles
  • Using creativity and innovation to achieve outstanding results
  • Being flexible and managing change proactively
  • Understanding the importance of teamwork and how to achieve it

Kriss Akabusi as an Awards Host

Kriss is also ready to rumble at your awards evening. He is not the star, merely the hired hand when it comes to company and association awards evenings.

"The stars are your delegates, your customers your awardees who have struggled, strived and succeeded in their arena. These are the people you want other members of your community to emulate; they are the standard bearers and bar raisers to whom you want the rest of the company, team, or associates to look up to, and if possible, supersede throughout the coming year."

Kriss' job is to ‘big them up’, bring energy, enthusiasm, pride and passion to your awards evening. In conjunction with an event organiser Kriss will work together to craft his presentation, produce the lyrics detailing what delegates have achieved and making sure that they are rewarded and recognised in a manner the world appreciates our sporting icons.
