JAMES MAY is a motoring journalist who has presented on Channel 4’s Driven and who is now one of the main presenters on Top Gear for BBC2.  He is a very relaxed and professional presenter with a sharp dry wit and an exuberant personality, making him the ideal choice for after dinner speeches and corporate events

Television

Christmas 2005 saw James in his very own BBC2 special James May’s Top Toys, re-living his childhood: playing with machine guns, blowing up “Action Man” and recreating model train history……The show was a great success with a call for more solo projects.

James has also done extensive broadcast work and been a regular radio and TV presenter, including Breakfast TV, BBC Radio 2, The Boat Show, ITV1, as well as branching into the “world of music” as co-host  on BBC2’s Top of the Pops.

Journalist

A freelance writer for many years, having contributed to Car Magazine, The Scotsman, Country Life, One, the Daily Express and various technology and travel titles, today James is a regular contributor and columnist for Top Gear Magazine, a weekly columnist  for The Daily Telegraph and a regular contributor to Conde Nast Traveller

James has a keen interest in cars that are either very posh or very basic and has a passion for motorbikes.

The Queen of Shops, Mary Portas has expressed her desire to apply her proven trouble shooting skills to struggling non-fashion retailers in the third series of her BBC2 programme. Previous series have featured fashion boutiques and charity shops. After seeing the effects of the recession on Tewkesbury's high street in her last show - Save Our Shops, Mary wants to help other independent non fashion retailers around the country.
