Dr Patrick Dixon is a fabulous keynote and business conference speaker, he is often described in the media as Europe's leading Futurist and has been ranked as one of the 20 most influential business thinkers alive today. He is the author of twelve books (385,000 in print in 19 languages) - titles include Building a Better Business, Futurewise, The Genetic Revolution, The Truth about Westminster, The Truth about Drugs and The Truth about AIDS.

Entrepreneur

A physician by training, Patrick is also a successful entrepreneur. One year after launching Medicom in 1979, the company was a UK market leader in IT systems for general medical practice.

Future Business Success

He is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and effective speakers in the world on issues relating to future business success. Every presentation is customised after close discussion with event organisers, to create a high impact, entertaining, provocative, very interactive and relevant multimedia experience for audiences ranging from 20 to 3,000. Dr Dixon tests opinion of each audience with "straw polls" and probes what they actually think themselves about future challenges, walks around and engages them personally.

Most presentations are opening keynotes, setting the scene for all that follows. Dr Dixon works hard to dig deep into organisational strategy and culture, with the help of each client, and aims to bring practical insights that are vitally important to the future of the corporation, taking into account everything else in the programme, and the priorities of the senior executive team. There is usually a strong focus on the future in every presentation, while also addressing urgent challenges facing the corporation / industry right now.

Global trends and strategic implications

He advises multinational company boards and senior teams on strategic implications of a wide range of global trends such as the new economy, the digital society, financial services, biotechnology, health care, geopolitical issues, lifestyle changes, marketing issues, consumer behaviour, employee motivation, public policy, business ethics and corporate social responsibility.

A skilled moderator, Patrick understands audience dynamics and brings a warmth to this role that he first nurtured as a physician working with cancer patients at the end of life.

His clients include Microsoft, IBM, UBS, World Bank, Siemens, Ford, ABN AMRO, Freshfields, Sara Lee, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hewlett Packard, Gillette, Roche, BASF, Credit Suisse, Forbes, Fortune, Royal Bank of Scotland, Zurich Financial Services, Tetrapak, Unisys, BT, BBC, Fedex, UNIDO, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the American Management Association.

Dr Patrick Dixon was a Fellow of the World Economic Forum (Davos) in 1997 and contributed to the World Economic Forum Governor's Meeting of the Travel and Tourism Industry in 2005. He has also taught on executive / MBA programmes at four business schools.

He has appeared on many TV stations, including CNN, CNBC, Fox News, Sky News and ITV commenting on global events and ethical issues, with features in the Financial Times, Times, Telegraph and Time magazine.
