Dr Peter “Pete” Hahn is a member of the Faculty of Finance at the City University’s Cass Business School in London.  He is an exceptional  keynote speaker and conference facilitator with his knowledge of banking, finance and the media.  Pete Hahn is also a director of Finance For Governance Limited which he set up to provide a confidential and customised forum for board directors to improve their understanding of corporate finance and governance issues.

Pete Hahn has appeared over 300 times on UK and international broadcast media including BBC Television & Radio, Bloomberg, Channel Four, and SKY Television and is frequently cited on the internet and in the world press including having been the Financial Times Expert of the Day and being asked to write an editorial for the Wall Street Journal.  Pete recently began writing a column for the Dow Jones Financial Week (also published on the internet as efinancial news).

Banking

In 1994, After a 20+ year career in banking on Wall Street and in The City of London lastly as a member of Citigroup's Global Corporate & Investment Bank's London Operating Committee (he was also a Managing Director and Citigroup’s Senior Corporate Finance Officer for the United Kingdom), Pete Hahn undertook a second career as business school academic. 

Academia

The Financial Times published 3 extensive articles about his experiences as a mature PhD student.  He now teaches undergraduates, MBAs, and executives on the principles of finance, corporate finance, company valuation, and banking issues.  He has also been on the Cass Business School research committee.  Pete’s dissertation focused on corporate governance and financial issues at British Corporations.
 
Dr Hahn is a Senior Fellow of the Foundation for Management Education (FME) and a Fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy.  In 2007, the FME and the UK’s Economic & Social Research Council awarded him a 2 year fellowship grant to encourage him to remain at Cass Business School post his doctoral studies.
 
In 2008, Pete was asked to give televised evidence in Parliament before the Treasury Committee; in 2009, he was asked to submit written evidence to the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee and was interviewed by the Walker Commission.  He has been cited in the reports of all. 

Keynote Speaker & Conference Chair

Dr Peter Hahn has chaired or participated in conferences hosted by The Financial Times, The Financial Regulator, The Economist, the Futures Industry Association, the Futures & Options Association, Merger Market, The Lauder Institute of Wharton Business School and the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation amongst many others.  He has presented research papers at academic conferences in the UK, Italy, Austria, and Belgium and been asked to critique research at Chatham House.

Banking Career

During his banking career Pete also held various positions in Citgroup's Capital Markets businesses where he was a member of the management committee. At Citi he worked with the majority of FTSE 100 firms, and major firms in Continental Europe and the USA.  Prior to his doctoral studies he was briefly a consultant to the Royal Bank of Scotland. Before joining Citigroup London, he worked in investment banking and corporate banking in New York and spent a number of years in structured finance and securitisation. He began his career as a corporate or commercial banker and completed credit training with his first employer.

Background

Pete holds an MBA from New York University and a BA from Drew University and lives in London, with his wife, an NHS physician, and two young children.  He enjoys walking, running, travel, music, and scuba diving.
