James is an English BAFTA-winning actor, writer and producer. He co-created and stars in the BBC Three comedy Gavin and Stacey. James is great for hosting awards at live corporate events.

In the beginning

James studied drama at Jackie Palmer Stage School and then attended Holmer Green Senior School and the Misbourne School, in Great Missenden.

James' experience

His first role was in the musical Martin Guerre. He then starred in the British television series Fat Friends as Jamie Rymer, and played Gareth Jones in the series Boyz Unlimited. His TV work includes a role playing a bookish student in Teachers (Series 1, 2000) and he also made a guest appearances in Little Britain. James’ film credits include Mike Leigh's All or Nothing (2002).

James played the role of Timms in the original London stage production of Alan Bennett's play The History Boys, as well as in the Broadway, Sydney, Wellington and Hong Kong productions and radio and film versions of the play. James’ stars in the BBC Three comedy Gavin & Stacey that he co-wrote with his Fat Friends co-star Ruth Jones. As well as a second series for the BBC, James will act as executive producer for an NBC pilot of an American version of the show.

James guest hosted Big Brother's Big Mouth with his Gavin & Stacey co-star Mathew Horne in August 2007. James and Horne were the permanent hosts for the Big Brother's Big Mouth series running alongside E4's Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack in January 2008. He appears in the forthcoming film of Toby Young's autobiography How To Lose Friends and Alienate People and series two of Gavin & Stacey. He cohosted the Whats on Stage Awards ceremony in 2008.

14th December 2009ManU footballer Ryan Giggs was the surprise winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year held in Sheffield last night, beating the favourite Jenson Button. World diving champion Tom Daley won the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year and comedian Eddie Izzard received a special award for running 43 marathons for charity. The awards ceremony was hosted by Sue Barker, Gary Lineker and Jake Humphrey

15th December 2009Jonathan Ross once again hosted the British Comedy Awards 2009 on Saturday night. Terry Wogan received a standing ovation when he was presented with The Lifetime Achievement award and Outnumbered staring Hugh Dennis & Claire Skinner won 3 awards including best comedy sitcom. Other winners included Harry Hill and Michael McIntyre, and Peter Kay received an Outstanding Contribution to Comedy award
Outnumbered picks up 5 nominations for the British Comedy Awards
18th November 2009Jonathan Ross is returning to host this year's British Comedy Awards, with BBC Comedy Outnumbered picking up 5 nominations. All three of the show's child stars are up for an award, as well as Claire Skinner who plays the mother in the family comedy. Alan Carr and Michael McIntyre also have high hopes for awards with three nominations apiece.

10th December 2008Alan Carr won the award for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality of 2008 at the British Comedy Awards. The British Comedy Awards regularly attract of audiences of around ten million, and was hosted this year by Angus Deayton.
