Sir David Jason

David, famed for his role as wheeler-dealer Del Boy in the TV sitcom "Only Fools and Horses", was knighted by the Queen on Thursday.  David, 65, who also won a legion of fans for his performances in "A Touch of Frost" and "The Darling Buds of May," received his honour at Buckingham Palace.

David, who said he was discovered while performing on Bournemouth Pier, has had a career spanning more than 30 years.  He got his big break in 1976 in the BBC sitcom "Open All Hours" alongside his long-time friend Ronnie Barker, who died in October.

David has also voiced a number of popular cartoons; in 1981 his was the voice of the heroic mouse Danger in "Danger Mouse" and in 1988 he lent his voice to the lead role of the vampire duck in "Count Duckula".

Christine Bleakley was in tears this morning as she completed her daunting bid to waterski across the world's busiest shipping lane. Despite falling eight times into the 4C freezing sea, she made it across 22 miles of choppy ocean in just one hour 40 minutes. Setting off for the French coast at 7.46am, The One Show presenter was good spirits supported by her co-host Adrian Chiles. Christine was determined to complete her challenge whatever the weather after raising thousands of pounds for Sport Relief.
