James Bellini regularly speaks and presents at conferences worldwide. Recent speaking and conference moderating invitations have taken him to Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, the United States, Malaysia and to practically every country in Europe.

James Bellini's Early Career

After a Masters in law and history from Cambridge, a PhD from the London School of Economics and a spell as university teacher he was the first British member of the renowned US-headquartered futurology 'think-tank', the Hudson Institute, founded by Dr Herman Kahn. As Head of Political Studies at the Institute’s European Division, based in Paris, he worked on a succession of major reports on Europe’s political, economic and social future. He subsequently consulted for the London-based Henley Centre for Forecasting and The Economist Intelligence Unit. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Future Forum, a worldwide network of futures professionals.

The BBC and the Advertising World

After the Hudson Institute James joined BBC TV as presenter of The Money Programme, Newsnight and Panorama. This began more than twenty years as a television programme-maker on business, politics and environmental issues, including ten years with Central TV, three years with Financial Times Television and four years with Sky News. Among his many award-winning TV programmes he scripted and narrated the 12-part series ‘The Nuclear Age’.

In the 1980s he was retained by a leading London advertising agency, subsequently becoming Chairman of its corporate communications division. He regularly works with leading IT names such as Hewlett Packard, Siebel, Peoplesoft, Software AG, Unisys, BMC and BEA exploring strategic implications of the ‘Knowledge Economy’.

James is the author of numerous books, special reports and analytical papers on social, political and business trends. He was for three years Editor of VISION, the four-language European business monthly and has contributed to such varied publications as Vogue, The Times, Survival, Business Life and the International Herald Tribune.

The Sunday Times Business Person of Year - The Finalists
23rd December 2009The Sunday Times has announced its list of contenders for their annual Business Person of the Year award. The finalists have shown true grit and determination - many have hauled their businesses through a rather perilous time unscathed and are survivors in the business world. The contenders are Angela Ahrendts (pictured left), Ross Brawn, Frank Chapman, Richard Cousins, Founders of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone and Evan Williams, Steve Jobs, Sam Laidlaw, Alan Mulally, Kate Swann, and John Varley.
BSkyB is Britain's most admired company 2009
2nd December 2009Media firm BSkyB landed the top spot in Management Today's Britain's Most Admired Companies awards on monday night. Led by CEO Jeremy Darroch, the organisation is one of the youngest to be handed the accolade, topping each of the nine criteria to secure the award. Matthew Gwyther, editor of Management Today said: 'It (BSkyB) is barely more than a stripling upstart amongst the great names of UK business, some of which have been around for centuries in one form or another. It has shown that a class-leading product, well marketed and slickly delivered, can continue to grow and prosper even in the most challenging circumstances.' Tesco and Johnson Mathey took the second and third slots respectively, with Cadbury, GlaxoSmithKline and Rolls-Royce trailing at numbers four, five and six.
