Andy Hanselman Biography

Andy Hanselman - Customer Service and Marketing Keynote Speaker
Topics:
  • Business
  • Marketing & Branding
  • Motivation & Teamwork

Andy Hanselman is a recognised expert in improving business competitiveness. His refreshing and insightful ‘take’ on how successful businesses win in this increasingly competitive world means he’s in demand as a speaker at business events, conferences, seminars and ‘in company’ sessions around the world.

Andy's Presentations and Key Themes

Andy is recognised for his humorous, pragmatic and down-to-earth approach, and is guaranteed to ‘wow’ your audience. His fast-paced, ‘no holds barred’ style offers audiences real solutions to today’s business problems of increased competition, massive choice and ever rising customer expectations.

Andy’s central themes are customers, competitiveness and competence. De-mystifying the jargon and blowing away the ‘buzzwords’, he offers a ‘refreshing’ look at the key ingredients to creating a truly competitive business. It means getting, and staying ahead of the competition by daring to be different, focusing on creating ‘devoted’ customers, developing a team of committed, passionate and effective people and establishing a culture that inspires everyone in the business to make a real difference.

Andy offers an insight into how successful businesses do this. Not the latest ‘fad’ or hyped ‘panacea’ for business success, but proven techniques that help individuals challenge what they currently do, and identify ways of doing it better.

Speaking Topics

Andy’s 20 years as a business owner, consultant and advisor means he doesn’t just have one speech. His wealth and depth of experience means he can deliver stimulating, challenging and insightful presentations on topics such as:

  • Customer Service, Sales and Marketing
  • Creating Competitive Advantage
  • Delivering ‘Remarkable’ Experiences
  • Thinking in ‘3D’
  • Team Work, Vision and Values
  • Culture as Competitive Advantage
  • Leading and Motivating Others
  • Maximising Customer Relationships

There will be no academic theories, but thought provoking inputs to help people reflect on their own performance and identify ways to get better.

Adapting his Presentation for your Organisation

Andy likes to tailor his presentation to your organisation. He wants to know about the challenges you face, your plans for the future, the barriers and blockages your people experience along with the success factors that make your organisation great. He also needs to know about the audience, what you want them to do differently as a result, who else will be speaking and the overall format of the day. Where necessary, Andy will talk to your key people before the event to ascertain their views and aspirations and ensure he delivers messages consistent with their own. This allows him to prepare and plan a presentation that delivers exactly what you want. ‘Relevance’, ‘rapport’ and ‘real world’ are consistent ingredients of an Andy Hanselman presentation. Of course Andy also liaises with the production team, organisers and support team to minimise the ‘hassle factor’ in the build up to your event.

Andy as an Author

Andy regularly writes, consults and speaks about business competiveness, sales, marketing and customer care issues. He is the author of two books: ‘Thinking in 3D – Creating A Business That’s Dramatically And Demonstrably Different’, and ‘Revolutionise The Profitability Of Your Business’, and is currently working in his third, ‘How to Create ‘Devoted’ Customers’.

Speakers Corner: How did the corporate speaking all start?

Andy Hanselman: Back in 1989 I worked for someone else in a training and consultancy business and found myself, dabbling, in the speaking side of things when no one else was available to do it!

Speakers Corner: Can you remember your first speaking engagement?

Andy Hanselman: Cash flow forecasting for start up businesses!!!! A colleague was stuck in a traffic jam and I was volunteered to present. I knew very little about it – and went through a 5 minute emergency personal tutoring session over the phone with him before I got going! It all went very well!

Speakers Corner: And your last event?

Andy Hanselman: Maximising Customer Relationships. – a key note on marketing and customer service to 120 business leaders at a Cornwall Chamber Of Commerce event.

Speakers Corner: Which event has been your favourite and why?

Andy Hanselman: Wow, there.s been so many! Top 3: Successful Selling‟ Conference with the Institute Of Sales and Marketing Management, ICC Birmingham – speakers from all over the world, USA, Australia, and me from Sheffield! Peaks and Pitfalls‟ Conference with The Entrepreneurs Forum, Newcastle Upon Tyne – a fantastic, entrepreneurial buzz‟ as there always is with their events. Senior Managers‟ Strategic Conference‟ with Nidera in Rome, Italy – great people, beautiful city!

Speakers Corner: If you could speak at any event, past or future, what would it be?

Andy Hanselman: TED Conference, Long Beach California . THE conference to be involved in! . just attending is the initial target goal for me . Then I.ll be presenting!

Andy Hanselman: Normally, Yes, but have done lots without!

Speakers Corner: Are you as happy speaking to 50 as to 1,000 people?

Andy Hanselman: Yes, without doubt – smaller audiences allow more interaction, discussion and debate

Speakers Corner: How do you like to be introduced?

Andy Hanselman: Here's Andy Hanselman..... I'll do the rest

Speakers Corner: Do you always like to do a briefing call before the event?

Andy Hanselman: I think it's imperative – the more I know about the audience, their mix, their issues, their needs and their challenges, the better I can develop and deliver a presentation to address those things – I don't have any scripts!

Speakers Corner: What are the most asked for topics?

Andy Hanselman: Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, How to create more customers, How to keep customers, Differentiating your business in the marketplace, Leadership – maximising people performance, Maximising profitability

Speakers Corner: Is your speech at all interactive with audience participation?

Andy Hanselman: It obviously depends on the purpose of the presentation and the time available. Wherever possible, Yes, undoubtedly – the more I can engage with the audience, the more I can help deal with the issues they face

Speakers Corner: Do you have any funny/embarrassing speaking anecdotes you care to share?

Andy Hanselman: I was once running a seminar at a very busy hotel on „creating delighted customers‟ to about 100 sales and marketing executives. We‟d got going, and had started with an interactive session where people got to know each other. I then started „doing my stuff‟ and as I was in „full flow‟ a hand went up „Excuse me‟ said a shy looking guy „This isn‟t Health & Safety At Work For Drainage Engineers, is it?” He‟d got the wrong seminar, and embarrassingly left the room to find the right one. About an hour later, there was a knock on the door. It was my Drainage Engineer friend.... “Can I come back in please? This is a far better seminar than the one I was supposed to be on!!!
