Moira Stuart is an experienced and accomplished conference facilitator and awards host, she is ideally suited to adding gravitas and professionalism to any event.

BBC Television News

Moira Stuart joined the BBC’s BREAKFAST daily morning news programme in October 2000, fronting the bulletins until May last year when the programme took on a new look with news summaries read by the main presenters.

During a long and distinguished career in BBC Television News she has presented every type of bulletin including News After Noon, the early evening 5.40 News, News Review, The Nine O'Clock News, The Weekend News, The Six O'Clock News, and most recently the news bulletins on Sunday AM, The Politics Show and other weekend bulletins.

Award winning presenter

In addition Moira has presented a variety of programmes on radio and television including her most recent documentary Moira Stuart In Search of Wilberforce, part of the BBC’s Abolition Season. In the programme Moira travelled to three continents and across thousands of miles in a quest to discover the real William Wilberforce. Other programme credits during her career include The Quincy Jones Story, the Best of Jazz, Open Forum, and the Holiday Programme; as well as the personal finance series Cashing In, the News Quiz, Have I Got News for You, and she was one of the first subjects in the current family history series Who Do You Think You Are?.

Moira was voted "Best Newscaster of the Year" in 1988 by the TV and Radio Industries Club Awards, and in 1989 "Best Television Personality" by the Women of Achievement Awards. In 1994 Moira was named "Best Female Television Personality" by the Black Journalists' Association, and in 1997 "Best Media Personality" by The Voice Newspaper. In 2001 Moira was awarded the OBE, in 2002 the EMMA Awards named her "Media Personality of the Year", in June 2004 she received the "Global Diversity Award", she received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Edinburgh in July 2006, in October 2006 was made a Fellow of the International Visual Communication Association, and in 2007 received the European Women of Achievement Award.

Other interests

Moira has served on various boards and judging panels including Amnesty International, The Royal Television Society, BAFTA, United Nations Association, the London Fair Play Consortium, the Human Genetics Advisory Commission, the Orange Prize for Literature, the BUPA Communications Panel, the IVCA and the Queen's Anniversary Prize.

Her interests include music, film and travel.

This weekend the Altitude Festival kicks off in the alpine ski resort of Meribel in France. The week long festival is packed with hilarious comedy talent performing in a skiiers paradise. The festival is organised by comedians Marcus Brigstocke and Andrew Maxwell who aim to make the whole festival carbon neutral and raise awareness of global warning. This year Al Murray, Rufus Hound, 4 Poofs & a Piano and Rich Hall will be performing.
