Jenson Button speeds to victory

British driver, Jenson Button led home a sensational one-two finish with his team-mate Rubens Barrichello at Sunday's season-opener in Melbourne, pleasing the new sponsor, entrepreneur Richard Branson.  However, they can expect rival teams to close the gap on his Brawn car over the longer straights of next weekend's Malaysian race. 

'I have a feeling that other teams are going to be on us very quickly and when we get to a different type of circuit, maybe in Malaysia, some other cars which weren't so competitive here will be,' Button said.

Button expects the teams that are using the new KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems), which recover the kinetic energy generated by the car's braking process for extra power, will do better around the Malaysian circuit.

'We haven't got KERS because we can't afford to develop it at the moment, but from what I've heard, people who are running KERS think that there is an advantage of two to three-tenths of a second on the circuits that have long straights,' he said.

'This (Melbourne) circuit doesn't have long straights and maybe when we get to Malaysia we will see that they have a little bit more of an advantage than the cars not running KERS.'

Braun GP is the first new team to finish one-two in a debut GP since 1954 when five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio led home Karl Kling for Mercedes in the French Grand Prix.

The BBC F1 team will be fronted by Jake Humphreys, with David Coulthard and ex-Jordan team boss Eddie Jordan as studio pundits. Award-winning commentator Martin Brundle (previously with ITV) joins seasoned sports commentator Jonathan Legard in the commentary box, while pitlane reporting is to be continued by other ex-ITV man Ted Kravitz. Commentating legend Murray Walker is said to be providing comment and analysis via the BBC website.
