By profession Clive Anderson is a barrister making him the perfect orator for after dinner speaking. He developed his flair for comedy and performing when he studied at Selwyn College, Cambridge between 1972 and 1975.

A Man of Many Talents

Clive Anderson is a man of many talents. He has several television writing credits to his name including Not the Nine O'Clock News (BBC), Alas Smith and Jones (BBC) and Around Midnight (LWT). He is also an accomplished performer on stage as a stand-up comedian in the early 80's, on Radio as host of The Cabaret Upstairs and on television as host and Chairman of Whose Line Is It Anyway?.

Whose Line..? ran for many years. The show appeared on BBC Radio 4 in 1988 before transferring to the small-screen on Channel 4. Clive Anderson was Chairman for both. Another long-running show Clive Andersen Talks Back was produced for ten series and Clive Anderson's All Talk ran from October 1996 to 2001.

Clive Anderson is not just known for comedy. He has presented several documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4. Following the success of the six part series for the BBC entitled Our Man In where Clive was sent around the world to out-of-the-way places, a further series was screened in early 1996.

Clive has been a frequent participant on Have I Got News for You, notching up seven appearances in total. He has also appeared on QI. In 2007, he featured as a regular panelist on the ITV comedy show News Knight.

Clive Anderson was awarded the television industry's Comedy Presenter of the Year Award in 1991 and he won an award from the British Comedy Awards for the Top Channel 4 Presenter in 1992.

He has also hosted several awards ceremonies - BAFTA Craft Awards and The Evening Standard Film Awards and hosted a live 2 hour special of The Channel 4 Debate during the last General Election.

Clive Anderson has written articles for The Times, The Observer, The Listener and has a regular column in The Sunday Correspondent.

An electric plug which can be folded flat has beaten 90 international entries to win the Brit Insurance Design of the Year award. Min-Kyu Choi, from London's Royal College of Art, hit upon the idea after having to carry around a bulky conventional plug to charge his laptop.

This weekend the Altitude Festival kicks off in the alpine ski resort of Meribel in France. The week long festival is packed with hilarious comedy talent performing in a skiiers paradise. The festival is organised by comedians Marcus Brigstocke and Andrew Maxwell who aim to make the whole festival carbon neutral and raise awareness of global warning. This year Al Murray, Rufus Hound, 4 Poofs & a Piano and Rich Hall will be performing.
