Career in the Media

It seemed inevitable that Nick Ferrari would have a career in the media, but even he could not have imagined the phenomenal success he’s enjoyed with an impressive career spanning radio, television and press, both in the UK and internationally.

Nick’s father ran a news agency - Ferrari Press Agency - and Nick was keen to make a name for himself in the same industry.

News Editor

After leaving college, Nick joined the Kentish Independent newspaper. In 1981, he moved to the national press at the Sunday Mirror. A year later, he joined The Sun as Showbiz Reporter and was soon promoted to Editor of Bizarre (The Sun’s celebrity gossip page), Deputy News Editor of The Sun and then Editor of Sunday (News of the World magazine). From there, Nick moved to broadcast media.

In 1989, he became Launch Editor of the Sky News channel and was later promoted to Vice President of News and Programming at Fox TV in New York. Nick moved back to print press in 1993 as Assistant Editor of the Daily Mirror. Two years later, he became Director of Programmes for the launch of L!ve TV. In 1999, Nick moved into the radio industry as a presenter with Talk Radio.

Awards and Accolades

He moved to London’s talk radio station LBC 97.3 in 2001 and became presenter of the weekday breakfast show. Since then, he has won many prestigious awards, including the 2006 Sony Radio Gold Award for Best Breakfast Show and the Arqiva Presenter of the Year.

Nick is a regular guest on the current series of ITV1’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show and has appeared on many other TV programmes including GMTV (ITV1); Daily Politics and Newsnight (both BBC2); Richard & Judy (Channel 4) London Talking (ITV London); Heaven and Earth (BBC1); The Pulse (ITV) and London Tonight (ITV London News) and BBC London Television News. In 2006, Nick played himself in an episode of the BBC comedy series Extras starring Ricky Gervais filmed at the LBC 97.3 studios. In 2007, he starred in the ITV1 reality show Call Me A Cabbie with Chantelle Houghton and Lady Isabella Hervey.

Launched in 2004, Nick developed his own sell-out stage shows, re-enacting his radio programme for a live audience, which played at many theatres across London. The stage shows were so popular that they were repeated following the release of his debut book, The World According to Nick Ferrari. Nick recently launched the highly-anticipated revised edition of his book, The World - and London - according to Nick Ferrari and took to the stage again in Nick Ferrari - A Comeback (Part 1).

Nick led LBC 97.3’s coverage of the 2008 London Mayoral elections and hosted the first live radio mayoral debate with the three main candidates. He also secured the first full press interview with Boris Johnson after he was elected Mayor of London.

Nick has recently signed an exclusive deal with LBC 97.3 to continue presenting his breakfast show.
