Gethin Jones leaves Blue Peter

Outgoing Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones has revealed that telling viewers he was quitting the show was one of the most difficult moments of his career.

And he says there were plenty of tears in the studio when he announced his decision to his co-presenters.

Welshman Jones became the 31st Blue Peter presenter when he joined the BBC’s long-running children’s show in April 2005.

He will present his last programme at the end of the current series in June.

Although he will be appearing in a forthcoming episode of Doctor Who, and there have been numerous work offers, he has nothing “concrete” lined up.
