From lift engineer to comedienne
Never backward in coming forward, the comedienne who hails from London via Nigeria shoots from the hip. Her unique take on being both cultural insider and outsider never fails to raise the roof. Following an early career as a Lift Engineer, Gina made her comedy debut at The Edinburgh Festival in 1995. The shows sold out almost immediately and overnight both audiences and critics alike were smitten.
Star of the comedy scene
Since those early heady days Gina has continued to take the comedy world by storm and is now one of the most highly sought - after comics in the country, making numerous appearances on Television, radio and the big screen. Her TV appearances have included The Lenny Henry Show, Jo Brand's Hot Potatoes, The Crouches, The stand up show and Celebrity Fame Academy.
Radio shows have ranged from her own BBC Radio London show to Radio 2's critically acclaimed sketch show with Julia Morris and Lucy Porter, The Powder Room. Feature films include Kiss Kiss and Mr In Between. She has appeared on the West-End stage in The Vagina Monologues and written several plays and sketches for the BBC.
Taking the US by storm
Gina is currently based in the USA. A storming performance on American TV's Last comic standing, led to Gina becoming the first British comic to appear on HBO's Def Comedy Jam. As a result Gina has found herself the toast of the Hollywood Hills and is now based Stateside in a council flat just-off Rodeo Drive. Her most recent US TV appearance was alongside Lewis Black and Robin Williams in a documentary examining the History of the Joke for the History Channel.
