Well known as the face of breakfast television on ITV's GMTV for 12 years, Eamonn Holmes hosted BBC1's twice weekly National Lottery programme Jet Set, the quiz show offering contestants a chance to win a once in a lifetime experience.   He also had his own sports entertainment show on BBC Radio Five Live and presented Britain's first national spelling competition, Hard Spell on BBC ONE.

Begining of Presenting Career

Eamonn was born in Belfast and studied journalism there before beginning his broadcasting career at Ulster Television. Initially a farming reporter before moving on to sport and news, he became, at the age of 21, the youngest ever anchorman in the ITV regions, hosting Ulster Television’s hour-long early evening programme Good Evening Ulster.

In 1986 he was one of the faces who launched daytime television on BBC1, with the daily phone-in programme Open Air and also presented BBC1's Holiday for many years.
