Jamie Oliver was born into the restaurant world, growing up in Essex, where his parents owned a pub-restaurant, The Cricketers. From an early age, Jamie knew he wanted to be a chef. After catering college and learning the ropes of fine cuisine in France, he became head pastry chef for Antonio Carluccio at The Neal Street Restaurant, followed by three years at the River Café.
Television beckoned and ‘The Naked Chef’ series brought Jamie worldwide fame. More television programmes and book deals followed, including ‘Jamie’s Kitchen’, ‘Jamie’s Chef’, ‘Jamie at Home’ etc.
In 2002, he embarked on an ambitious project taking 15 under-privileged youngsters who had never been anywhere near a restaurant kitchen and turned (most of) them into professional chefs. The restaurant, Fifteen’ and its accompanying TV series have both been huge successes.
He has also raised the awareness of school dinners in the UK with his programme on the subject and subsequently became an adviser to the government.
Jamie lives in London with his wife, Jools and their daughters, Poppy and Daisy and has received the prestigious Beacon Fellowship Prize for his contribution to disadvantaged young people, offering training and practical experience in the catering industry.
Jamie is the advertising face of Sainsbury’s and is in huge demand for corporate events.
