Speakers Corner: How did the corporate presenting all start?

Sian Jones: After a period of 5 years as a TV presenter in Hong Kong, I returned to the UK and became a freelance; first for Bloomberg, CNBC, Sky, the ITV News Channel and Channel 5. Corporate presentation requests began when I was freelancing reading the ITV Morning News and have continued to grow ever since.

Speakers Corner: Can you remember your first corporate event?

Sian Jones: Yes, it was when I was still in Hong Kong and was working for Cartoon Network. I was sent to India, for the launch of ‘Toon Cricket, a CN initiative to raise awareness of the company’s commitment to its Asia Pacific market and underprivileged children In Mumbai and Delhi.

Speakers Corner: Tell us about it?

Sian Jones: I addressed the audience at the conference who were mainly Indian journalists, whilst a team, which included a life sized Fred Flintstone and Muttley, played cricket in 40 degree heat.

Speakers Corner: And your last event?

Sian Jones: Baxter Healthcare’s Annual Conference in St Andrews, Scotland at the end of January 2010 for my second year.

Speakers Corner: Which corporate event has been your favourite to date and why?

Sian Jones: The EON Environment Summit comes pretty high up, as it tackled a subject close to my heart and the speakers were superb. It was refreshing to hear how such a powerful organisation were taking responsibility for their own part in the problem, at long last.

Speakers Corner: If you could speak/present at any event, past or future, what would it be?

Sian Jones: Any Global Climate Change Summit

Speakers Corner: Who would you most like to share a platform with?

Sian Jones: Rory Bremner -- I heard him on the radio the other day and was just bowled over by his energy, talent and humour.

Speakers Corner: On average, how many corporate events do you do a year?

Sian Jones: Seven to ten

Speakers Corner: Are you as happy speaking/presenting with an audience of 50 as 1,000?

Sian Jones: Yes, equally

Speakers Corner: How do you like to be introduced?

Sian Jones: Yes, it is essential and I really like to immerse myself in the topic through research prior to the event. Coming across as convincing and as if you know what you are talking about is vital in any job
