Claudia Winkleman to be new Hell's Kitchen host

25th March 2009

Claudia Winkleman will host the next series of cooking show Hell's Kitchen following Angus Deayton's departure. The presenter and awards host was recently seen presenting Let's Dance for Comic Relief on BBC One and Strictly Come Dancing companion show It Takes Two on BBC Two.

"I've always been a huge fan of Hell's Kitchen and I'm thrilled to be joining the team," said the TV personality.

Claudia will replace Angus Deayton, as the host of the ITV1 show in which Marco Pierre White puts a group of celebrities through their culinary paces.

Claudia, who started her television career as a reporter on ITV1's This Morning, said she hoped she would receive some advice from Marco "as I get confused when making toast."

Marco Pierre White became head chef in the third series of the cooking reality show, taking over from previous experts Gary Rhodes and Jean Christophe Novelli, who headed the show in 2005. Gordon Ramsay, who appeared in the first series, now stars in the US version.

Former boxer Barry McGuigan won the last run of Hell's Kitchen, broadcast in autumn 2007. The new series will begin in the spring.
