Tim Minchin is an award-winning comedian, songwriter, singer and pianist. Renowned for his sharp lyrical observations and extraordinary musical talents, he has become extremely popular in the corporate sector, particularly for his ability to create tailor-made songs for clients.

Tim Minchin - Award-Winning Comedian

Tim’s brand of dark comedic cabaret has received increasing critical and public acclaim. His show “Dark Side” won the 2005 Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the Festival Directors’ Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and was featured at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival in 2006.

His show “So Rock” was nominated for Most Outstanding Show at the MICF and received universally rave reviews.

Tim subsequently went on to perform Dark Side at the Soho Theare and the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End, and also appeared on a bill with Mariah Carey and Westlife at the Royal Albert Hall. He has also appeared on British television and radio, and on Paramount Comedy’s “The World Stands Up”.

Tim appeared at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival in 2006 and the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado in January 2007, where he won the award for Best Alternative Comedian. In November that year, he performed at the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and sold out short seasons at Ars Nova in New York and the ACME Comedy Theatre in LA. In 2010 Tim also appeared at the Guardian Hay festival.

Back In Australia

In Australia  his first show, Navel, received Green Room Award nominations for Most Innovative Use of Form and Most Outstanding Songwriter. The following year his second effort, Perineum Millennium, received Green Room Award Nominations for Best Cabaret Artist and Most Outstanding Songwriter.

Tim Minchin - Composer and Musician

Tim composed many scores for theatre before focussing on live performance. Shows include several Shakespeares (Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, MacBeth), a couple of Brechts (Mother Courage, Caucasian Chalk Circle) and his own musical play, Pop – a tragically musical romantic black comedy. In the past he has written music and lyrics for Tamarama Rock Surfer’s This Blasted Earth. He most recently wrote music and lyrics for Railway Street Theatre Company’s Somewhere. He has also composed and produced music for Discovery Channel.

“Rock n Roll Nerd”, a documentary about Tim’s life between 2005 and 2006, premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival in July 2008 and was released on DVD by Madman Entertainment in May 2009

When not on tour, Tim lives in London with his wife and young children.
