David was at the forefront of the London 2012 Olympic bid and is a leading light in the marketing world. A fantastic keynote speaker, David will bring a fresh approach to any conference or event
David Magliano was Director of Marketing for London 2012. He masterminded the crucial presentation in Singapore before the final decision and this race has been described as the fiercest competitive pitch of all time.
Formerly in the airline industry, David Magliano was Sales and Marketing Director of the low cost airlines Go and EasyJet. He was a founder of Go along with Barbara Cassani, and was part of the management buyout from British Airways. Following the MBO his marketing strategies contributed to increasing Go’s value from £100m to £400m in nine months (despite the impact of 9/11). David then helped lead the sale of Go to easyJet, and manage the integration of the two airlines. He was responsible for 400 people, annual revenues of £1billion and a marketing budget of £60m across 13 European countries.
Before launching Go, David had 10 years experience at major advertising agencies.
David Magliano is knowledgeable about every marketing discipline – advertising, websites, direct mail, PR, events, internal communications, research, pricing, distribution and customer service. He has created high-profile new brands, and established marketing teams from scratch. He has been through two start-ups, an MBO, an exit and merger.
He is a director of two companies: Dyson & Glasses Direct
David Magliano has been UK Marketer of the Year twice (1999 and 2005), and Advertising Age’s Global CMO of the Year (2006). He was awarded an MBE in 2006.
