Stirling Moss Named Greatest Formula 1 Driver Ever
The Top 100 Formula One Drivers of All Time, a newly published book by racing journalist Alan Henry names Stirling Moss as the world's greatest Formula 1 driver, the book ranks seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher 11th.
Schumacher won a record 91 races. Henry reserves his greatest praise for the versatile and gentlemanly Moss, who won 16 F1 Grand Prix races but never captured the driver's championship.
The author's top 10 F1 driver picks in order are Moss, Jim Clark, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Bernd Rosemeyer, Jackie Stewart, Tazio Nuvolari and Mika Häkkinen. Rookie sensation Lewis Hamilton is ranked 30th.
Henry, the Grand Prix correspondent for Autocar in the U.K. and a racing journalist since the 1970s, previously published a similar tome back in 2000, called The 100 Greatest Racing Drivers.
