Television and radio presenter, Daisy McAndrew is carving a niche as an excellent conference speaker, facilitator and awards host.
Presenter of BBC2’s Daily Politics, Daisy McAndrew also hosts her own daily radio drive-time show (4pm-7pm) for London’s LBC 97.3FM Driving Home with Daisy.
She has been on Have I Got News for You twice in the last six months, is a regular on The Wright Stuff on Five as well as appearing as a guest newspaper reviewer on 5Live’s Worriker Show once a month. Daisy has also recently presented BBC1’s The Heaven and Earth Show and was BBC Breakfast’s political correspondent until earlier this year.
Starting as a researcher in the House of Commons in 1991 (aged 19) she then moved on to work on The House Magazine, a publication she edited at 23 for two years (1995-1997) and became a freelance political journalist in the House of Commons Press Gallery for a couple of years.
From 1999 Daisy to 2001 Daisy was Liberal Democrat Leader Charles Kennedy’s Press Secretary. She was in charge of his press and publicity in the run up to the General Election, from November ’99 and for the duration of the campaign on his Battle Bus.
After leaving the Lib Dems, Daisy did a lot of broadcasting punditry that led to presenting Channel 4’s lunchtime political programme Powerhouse and she also commented on the week in politics on BBC2’s Despatch Box.
Besides the success of her broadcast career she was asked to be the political consultant on the BBC’s A-Z of Politics and has edited The Politics Companion, published by Chrysalis books. Until the end of 2003 she wrote the weekly in-depth interviews with politicians, of all parties, for The House Magazine, for whom she has interviewed well over 100 MPs, and has gained an extensive encyclopaediacal knowledge and understanding of British politics – from policies to personality gossip. She has also worked as a freelance journalist for the Independent, and various other Sunday tabloids.
"Daisy was excellent. She held the show together well
