Sir CHRISTOPHER MEYER is a worldwide statesman who shares his experiences in life and politics and is a wonderful and engaging speaker

British Ambassador to the United States

As British Ambassador to the United States, Sir Christopher Meyer is the man who first introduced Tony Blair to George W Bush. Since then, diplomatic relations have rarely been closer or more widely discussed. Meyer’s revealing account of life behind the scenes, DC Confidential, was published in Autumn 2005 and became an instant bestseller, it caused a huge amount of controversy on its publication.

Whilst in Washington Sir Christopher became deeply involved in many critical situations, from peace processes to the ‘war’ against international terrorism and the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. During his six-year term, he gave some 200 speeches, visiting 44 states and 120 cities.

Prior to his role in the US, Sir Christopher occupied a number of key positions. He was Ambassador to Germany; press secretary to John Major; speechwriter to three Foreign Secretaries and head of the political section of the Embassy in Moscow. He also served in Madrid and Brussels.

Christopher is a wonderfully engaging speaker. Whether talking about the axis of power between Europe and America, Presidential etiquette or the history of pop music since the 50s (his favourite topic) - he speaks with enormous authority and a subtle mixture of refinement and irreverence.

He was educated in Britain, France, the US and Italy - and speaks Russian, French, Spanish and German with varying degrees of ability.

Sir Christopher Meyer now chairs the Press Complaints Commission, and serves on the board of GKN and runs his own consultancy. He was made a Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George, by Her Majesty The Queen.
