David Aaronovitch
David Aaronovitch is an excellent after dinner and conference speaker. In 1982 he got a job as a researcher for LWT's cerebral politics programme, Weekend World, by 1987 he was a producer. In 1988 David was the first editor of On The Record, the BBC's politics programme.
Media Career
At the beginning of 1995 David became chief leader writer of the Independent. He was a TV reviewer, parliamentary sketch writer and columnist for the Independent, until 2003, when he moved to The Guardian and Observer.
David Aaronovitch has presented occasional editions of Newsnight, Pick Of The Week, the Jimmy Young Programme and Parkinson's Sunday Supplement, as well as appearing as a guest on Have I Got News For You, the News Quiz and Question Time. His own TV and radio shows have included Booked, Sex on TV (Channel 4), On Air (BBC2), True Lies, Copysnatchers, A World Without , Concrete Dreams The Roman Way and Midsummer Midweek (all Radio 4), Two Little Boys (first night of Channel 5), Whatever Turns You On (Channel 5), Think Tank and The Argument (BBC1), Witness to History (BBC4) and Blaming the Jews (Channel 4).
Awards & Publishing
David won the 1998 What The Papers Say award for a writer about broadcasting, and the 2000 Orwell prize for journalism. His first book, PADDLING TO JERUSALEM, was published in September 2000.
