Colin Jackson
COLIN JACKSON hung up his spikes in front of a roaring home crowd at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2004. Despite missing out on a medal, it was a more than fitting end to the competitive career of the nation's favourite sporting personality, having decided to finally retire from the sport he has dominated for so long.
World & European Champion
Former World and European Champion, both indoor and outdoor, Colin had been ranked in the world top 10 for the 16 years, was World No.1 from 1992-1994 and was never out of the world's top 3 1997-2004. He is the reigning World Record Holder outdoors (12.91, World Title, Stuttgart 1993) and at 60mh indoors (7.30, Sindelfingen 1994) and since setting a European junior record of 13.44 in 1986, has gone on to set 7 European, 8 Commonwealth and 9 UK records at 110 metre hurdles.
Colin is one of the most respected and loved of all British sports stars and his down to earth, approachable manner has endeared him to both public and media alike throughout his career. He is also renowned as one of Britain's most stylish and photographed sportsmen.
Broadcaster
Although no longer seen on the track, Colin is still be a regular face in the public eye both on and off television. Colin kick started his broadcasting career by co-hosting the BBC reality TV project 'Born to Win', where he led the nation's largest search for Britain's new sporting talent and he has appeared on our screens on programmes such as Celebrity Bargain Hunt, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and as a host on the BBC's pre Eurovision programme 'Making your Mind up'.
Alongside being on screen, Colin will also be developing his creative passion for working behind the scenes as he take on a key role as development producer for this year's BBC Sport Relief.
Meanwhile Colin will also continue to be seen commentating for BBC Sports programmes, including continued coverage of indoor and outdoor international athletics.
