Hagai Segal is an award winning academic, consultant and analyst, columnist and keynote speaker specialising geo-strategic and economic risk particularly focussed in the Middle East and Asia.

What Are You Ignoring? Why Only Looking At Economic Risk During The Economic Downturn Damages Your Business

Political decisions and events have never had more influence on global business and the global economy than they have today.

With governments having bought large stakes in the big banks and multinational corporations, with the growth and importance of the sovereign wealth funds, with the increasing political interference in the supply and price of natural resources and in business in general across the globe, and with the role of state actors in global terrorism, responsible businesses ignore the decisions of politicians and government at their peril.

Political crises are no longer rare, they are common, and their economic impact cannot be ignored, especially during a credit crunch. Thus knowing what politicians are doing and going to do – and what the strategic, economic and social consequences of these decisions will be – has never been more important to the business leader.

Hagai, an expert in how global political and strategic issues affect the world – and the business world and global economy in particular – will examine these key political and strategic issues and their implications for your business and the economy, and how an understanding of these matters can give your business an advantage in these uncertain times”.

Terrorism, Foreign Policy & Global Economic Risk

Hagai has a long track record as a consultant, analyst and advisor to numerous banks, finance/investment houses, international corporations, business groups, security and police agencies and politicians. He specialises in analysis of geo-strategic and economic risk factors – specifically developments in terrorism, the Middle-East and Asia, and developments in US Foreign Policy – and how these factors affect global and regional security and the global economy.

Academia

In his academic role, Hagai lectures in Near and Middle-Eastern Politics at New York University in London, he has previously taught at the University of London, and guest lectures at Universities from the USA to Australia. He is the 2007/8 recipient of NYU in London Annual Teaching Award

Media

A regular guest on national and international television channels (including CNN, the BBC, Sky News and CNBC), and numerous national and international radio stations, Hagai also writes for a number of newspapers and publications around the world, including a regular column for the South China Morning Post (Hong Kong).

Hagai additionally has become a familiar face as a keynote speaker at international corporate and industry conferences, regularly addressing events such as the CLSA Investors’ Forum and Traders’ Forum, oil and gas conferences Sparks & Flames and Flame, and project finance conference Projects International, in addition to resilience and security forums like International Joint Operations Command Conference, International Metro Security and the International Public-Private Preparedness Summit.
