Broadcaster and journalist JEREMY PAXMAN has received numerous broadcasting awards, twice winning the Richard Dimbleby Award, Bafta's most prestigious award for current affairs.  Jeremy has a unique interviewing style and is known for his in depth probing and questioning of politicians on Newsnight, which he has anchored since 1989.  His skill and popularity in chairing and facilitating conferences is unequaled.

Broadcaster

In the mid seventies, Jeremy Paxman was based in Northern Ireland, where he covered the troubles for the BBC.  He joined the Tonight programme, in 1977, followed by five years as a reporter on Panorama, where assignments took him frequently to Africa, the Americas and the Middle East.

Since 1989 he has anchored Britains premier nightly news analysis programme, BBC2s Newsnight and for several years, he also presented Start The Week on BBC Radio Four.  He became chairman of University Challenge in 1994.

General Information

Jeremy Paxman was born in Yorkshire in 1950, educated in Worcestershire and received his degree (in English) from St Catharines College, Cambridge. His charitable interests include homelessness, mental health and education. In his spare time, he goes fly-fishing.
