Assistant Secretary of State & Chief Spokesman for the Clinton Administration and top policy advisor to former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, James Rubin conducted daily on-camera briefings for the State Department press corps and represented the administration in print, radio, and television interviews regarding U.S. diplomatic, foreign economic and national security policies. US Senior Policy Advisor

During the 2004 Presidential general election, James Rubin served as Senior Foreign Policy Adviser to Senator John Kerry and as Senior Foreign Policy Adviser to General Wesley Clark during the primaries. He was Director of Foreign Policy for the Clinton/Gore '96 Campaign and from 1993 until 1996, Mr. Rubin served as Senior Adviser and Spokesman for the U.S. Representative to the United Nations.

From 1989-1993, he was a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and prior to that he was the Research Director for the non-profit Arms Control Association in Washington, D.C.

Education & Awards

A native of New York City, James studied Political Science from Columbia University in 1982 and has a Masters degree in International Affairs.   He was the recipient of Columbia College's John Jay Award for Distinguished Professional Achievement. In April 2000, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright awarded him the State Department's highest honour, the 'Distinguished Service Award'.

Current

James Rubin is working for one of the biggest City PR firms, with 30 FTSE 100 companies among its clients. He also lectures at the London School of Economics and he is keeping up his commitments as a writer and broadcaster.  He anchors his own show on Sky News, commenting on world events and interviewing major international figures.
