19th October 2012

Alex Flynn, adventurer and motivational speaker, appeared on The One Show to talk about his amazing Trans-America adventure - part of his overall 10 million metres challenge.

Alex, who suffers from the degenerative Parkinson’s Disease, is taking on an extreme challenge of running, cycling and climbing 10 million metres to raise £1 million for Parkinson's research.

Alex was filmed by the BBC for his Trans-America Challlenge, to cover 3,500 miles from the Pacific Coast at Santa Monica to New York City - in just 30 days.

Alex said: "The idea of the 10 million metre challenge came about over a cup of tea with a friend. I set a deadline of doing it in 4 years, split into different races. One challenge involved me running from London to Rome, averaging 50 miles a day.

"I want to bring awareness that, with Parkinson's UK especially, there are support groups and people who can help."
