In a bid to raise awareness of heart disease in women, east London stand-up Andi Osho is joining up with stars of comedy, Victoria Wood, Jo Brand and Julia Davis in a new show – The Angina Monologues.
Andi swapped acting for comedy three years ago and has been making waves on the circuit ever since. She has appeared on Mock The Week, and is a regular performer on Stand Up For The Week.
She said she was looking forward to appearing with some of Britain's top comedians: “These people are comedy legends, almost institutions.”
The show, which as its name suggests is a variation on the Vagina Monologues, will highlight that heart disease is the UK's biggest killer for women, accounting for three times more deaths than breast cancer.
Andi said she had no personal experience of heart disease — “touch wood”. “But people don't realise that women can suffer as much as men do and that's why I want to support it,” she added.
Katy Brand, Isy Suttie, Roisin Conaty, Joanna Scanlan and Vicky Pepperdine will also appear in the British Heart Foundation show at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on Sunday.
