Double Olympic gold medallist and charismatic motivational speaker Dame Kelly Holmes made a guest appearance at her local circuit, Brands Hatch, this weekend - for rounds nine and ten of the FIA Formula Two Championship.
The Kentish athlete, who won two gold medals at the Athens Olympic games in 2004, was guest of honour at the prestigious event.
Kelly joined fellow guests for the pre-race grid walk at the 2.3 mile Grand Prix circuit, meeting drivers such as title leader Mirko Bortolotti and British hopefuls Jack Clarke and Alex Brundle. She also made the podium presentations to the winning drivers on Saturday.
Kelly said: "I'm delighted to be attending my first ever Formula Two event and at Brands Hatch which is my local circuit. I have a lot of respect for racing drivers as, like Olympic athletes, they have to be incredibly fit in order to cope with the G-forces developed by the cars. It will be great to see them in action around the Brands Hatch track as most people won't know that I am hoping to get into racing myself. Maybe one of them can give me a few tips!"
