Max McKeown has been shortlisted for the CMI Management Book of the Year in the Commuter’s Read category, for his latest publication, The Strategy Book.
The chosen books have been selected to reflect the topical focus on how best to stimulate growth during difficult times, with a focus on practical skills and innovation.
The shortlisted entries also include: Guide to Decision Making: Getting It More Right Than Wrong by Helga Drummond and Winning at Innovation: The A-F Model by Fernando Trias de Bes and Philip Kotler.
Leading business figures and experts in the field will now begin the process of judging the books and deciding on a winner.
Professor Cary Cooper of Lancaster University Management School chairs the final judging panel. He said: “There are so many management books out there but we only select the ones of greatest importance and we have chosen our shortlist based on books that are readable, accessible; innovative and engaging.”
Piers Cain, Head of Knowledge Management at CMI, said: “We were delighted with the high calibre of entrants this year….Our aim is to find the nuggets of ‘management gold’ that can make the difference to your day-to-day job, amongst the vast array of management books and advice.”
The inaugural competition in 2011 was won by Henry Mintzberg with Managing.
