The Cheltenham Literary Festival takes on the transition from sporting figure to writer, with cricket legend Mike Atherton, former Middlesex bowler turned Daily Telegraph sports analyst Simon Hughes, and Matthew Syed, former table tennis champion and author of Bounce, who are all attending to discuss the varied aspects of their careers.
On a different note, Observer columnist and author of Them and Us: Changing Britain, Will Hutton, challenges the workability of capitalism, reflects on the effects of the last 12 months of cuts and what lies ahead.
The Festival is running for the 62nd time, with an impressive catalogue of the best writers, thinkers and agenda-setters brought together for a scintillating 10 days of discussion and debate.
Only in Cheltenham can the public hear the world’s leading authors, as well as eating, networking and socialising, and catching up on some reading!
