Archie Norman Biography

Archie Norman is one of Britain’s leading businessmen with a long term track record of business change and value creation. He has led transformations of major British businesses, served on the Boards of several others, and built over time very strong management teams who are now in leading positions in several major British companies.  As a business speaker Archie talks on a variety of topics including leadership, customer service, change and business turnaround

In 2009 Archie Norman was appointed non-executive Chairman of ITV.

Business Background

Archie Norman's previous employment has included Citibank NA, Partner, McKinsey & Co Plc, Group Finance Director of Kingfisher Plc, Chief Executive of Asda Group Plc and Chairman of Asda Group Plc.

Archie Norman was a Non Executive Director of Geest Plc, of British Rail, and was a Non Executive Director of Railtrack.

Other positions Norman has held include UK Retailer of the Year, Yorkshire Businessman of the Year, and a Member of the Cancer Research Board.

Archie has also previously been a Member of the HM Government Deregulation Taskforce, and a Member of the Anglo-German Deregulation Taskforce.

Member of Parliament

Archie Norman was elected Member of Parliament for Tunbridge Wells.

Norman was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party, with special responsibility for the reform and renewal programme. In the last 90's he was appointed Chief Executive of the Conservative Party. In a reshuffle, Archie became Shadow Minister for Europe. Soon after he was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Transport and the Regions.
