Derek’s semi-final at the Barcelona Olympics will be remembered as an eternally inspirational moment, as his father headed onto the track to help him cross the finishing line after a serious injury mid race. Lauded as NBC’s third top Olympic moment ever, and mentioned in a public speech by Barack Obama, Derek Redmond is a top motivational and after dinner speaker.
Dogged by serious injury from the start of his career, Derek’s remarkable achievements are internationally lauded, and his name has become synonymous with the ideals of hard graft and determination.
Aside from the athletics track, Derek has played basketball for England and professionally for Birmingham Bullets. He has coached and advised international athletes at Birchfield Harriers and has played competitive rugby union for Coventry RFC, Stow RFC, playing alongside the Will Carling, Brian Moore, Rory Underwood and Gavin Hastings in some high profile invitational games.
Derek is loved by TV and radio audiences and is recognised for commentating for Eurosport and appearing on a diverse range of shows including Noel's House Party, Celebrity Gladiators and Equinox. He also presented a prime time basketball show for ITV.

Derek was fantastic despite the technical hitches. He showed whata true professional he is and was indeed a shining star in our moment of adversity. A truly memorable presentation which could not have been more appropriate if we had written part of the script for him, as it fitted in nicely with the themes of the workshop that had taken place during the day.
Derek's presentation was ideal for the theme of the conference, geared at the right level and provided the motivation required. We were delighted thathe stayed on for the dinner and well into the evening and made himself available for individuals to speak personally to him. Overall he was very well received and contributed to what was a very successful conference.
There have been nothing but compliments on how well the event was run. Mr Redmond went down extremely well and participated in the event himself - just that extra bit of motivation for the teams!
Summing up nicely one delegate said, 'Derek's personality left everybody buzzing'. I would personally like to thank you for your contribution, which was extremely well received, by delegates and organisers alike.
Your presentation was spot on and could not have been better prepared or made more relevant. I would like to thank you again for the time you took in getting to understand our part of BAe and the priorities for our team and the objectives of the event. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thank you for helping to make our convention at Rank Xerox the success it undoubtedly was. Your audience were captivated by your energy and enthusiasm. Thanks for the inspiration.

Derek Redmond: My corporate speaking began back in 1997 when I was invited to attend the financial directors forum along with Frank Dick and I never looked back!
Speakers Corner: If you could speak at any event, past or future, what would it be?
Derek Redmond: If I could speak at any event I would love to speak at the White House! (I an not sure they hold events there but that would be so cool) I also love big events so any event that has a massive audience really does it for me!
Speakers Corner: Who would you most like to share a platform with?
Derek Redmond: I would love to share a stage with the the US president! Maybe at the same event where I speak at the White House!
Speakers Corner: What are your most frequently requested speaking topics?
Derek Redmond: My most frequently requested topic is about the Barcelona event (surprise surprise!!) I also get asked to speak a lot about subjects such as teamwork and determination.
Speakers Corner: What do you do to ensure your presentation has a lasting impact?
Derek Redmond: To make sure my presentations have a lasting impact I have a couple of take away models (A teamwork wheel and goal setting triangle) that everyone in the audience can fill in and use themselves with their own teams and goals, plus the rubik,s cube normally has a lasting effect too!
Speakers Corner: What can a typical corporate audience learn from your experiences?
Derek Redmond: A typical corporate audience can learn many things from my experiences but to sum up in a single sentence I would say they leave knowing that the mindset of a successful sportsman is no different to the mindset of a successful business person as I say "sport is a business and business is a sport"
