Biography: Ellis Watson

Ellis Watson

Others say

"Very relevant, provocative and entertaining."
Morgan Stanley

"Ellis' content and delivery was excellent and matched the brief brilliantly."
RBS

"Ellis was just what guests needed after a hard day of meetings. He was a perfect fit."
Investec

"Met brief (which was discussed at length!) very well and provided both entertaining and thought provoking talk. Delighted that as promised humour was not diluted to the merely witty and the anecdotes used provided plenty of "out loud" laughs. This was commented on by many delegates over beers into the wee small hours. During these conversations it also became clear that the theme (up to us to be architects of our own future) had hit home. President and deputy MD enjoyed talk - result!"
SANOFI PASTEUR MSD

Ellis Watson is an accomplished and witty conference and after dinner speaker.  He speaks on culture change and spreading inspiration and is suitable for a wide range of audiences.

Ellis Watson is Managing Director of Menzies Distribution. Prior to this he was managing Director of Mirror Newspapers, where he was responsible for five national and 240 regional titles.

He was previously MD at Celador International, in charge of commercial sales of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Under his wing the phenomenally successful show was licensed in more than 100 countries, with over 130 consumer products.

"Ellis was an inspiring, amusing and engaging speaker. He had done his homework and knew who he was speaking to and had worked hard to tailor his talk to our audience rather than delivering a standard presentation. He was also very easy to deal with."
The Institute of Risk Management

Ellis was originally Marketing Director for the Sun and News of the World, reporting directly to Rupert Murdoch. He helped reverse a decline in sales and launched a number of cutting edge initiatives, from brand extensions to Books for Schools. He also conceived CurrantBun.com, which quickly became the UK's fifth largest ISP.

Ellis Watson talks about how organisational cultures evolve as a result of the quality and diversity of the individuals employed. He is a captivating and hugely entertaining speaker, who also gives an insight into what it was like to work for the idiosyncratic Mr Murdoch.

In his after dinner speech, Ellis describes how the Colombian Minister of Information insisted on hosting ‘Millionaire’ himself - giving female contestants a helping hand!
