Jim managed to energise and motivate an early morning crowd. Exceptional job.
Brilliant - effervescent, inspiring, relateable and approachable. The perfect addition to our agenda, raising the tempo, energy and laughter in the room of what had been a serious few days. Thank you!
Jim connected well with the audience and the second day in particular was getting them really involved - good to hear people talking about their facing their tigers in a tram meeting later in the week - feedback was strong. The way Jim encouraged my team to ride down the final furlong with him kept them engaged better on day two. 50 minutes was the right length - and the sight from the back of the room where I was will stay with me for a long time!
Very engaging speaker who provided a great balance of coaching whilst using his own experience to bring the main points to life.
Jim is an excellent and engaging speaker, who got immediate rapport with the audience, and managed to transcend his personal story to motivate and inspire a group of very different people from varied cultural backgrounds.
Great! Very personable, inspirational and entertaining. Would certainly book him again, it added a real buzz to the evening.
Enjoyed by all the delegates attending our company workshops. Excellent feedback received from our delegates.
Jim tailored his performacne to exactly what we wanted following the briefing call - he got across exactly the right messages. We have had comments from the attendees that Jim's performance was very inspirational and people are referring to 'taming their tigers'
I was really pleased to hear people days later still talking about Jim's presentation - great fun at the time but clearly a more lasting message that hits home.
Jim held the audience, entertained and got across a postive message - unusual but it is remembered by attendees later. In retrospect Jim did not have enough time to cover fully all ten tigers.
Brilliant! Our audience are a very difficult group to please but the feedback has been fantastic - not one negative comment. A great performance that was relevant and inclusive.
The humour factor was perfect to ease the tone of the event and Jim was a lovely guy.
Jim was fantastic. Fromt he first phone call he was keen to take our objectives on board and he delivered them perfectly in his unique style. He brought a real buzz to the conference which we wouldn't have had without him. It was a great way to kick off and put our delegates in the right frame of mind for the work that followed.
We are very garteful you were able to deliver such a compelling, humourous and exhilarating session at our recent official opening of our Management Training and Conference Centre. The event was a great success with many congratulatory comments about the Centre and in particular your session. The links of Ten Rules to Taming Tigers certainly brought home to not only me, but many of our audience, that little voice whic in reality is a big voice that prevents us from believing in ourselves. Your session reflected exactly the achievements of our organisation. Thank you for a great presentation.
Jim's Taming Tigers was relevant, thought provoking and entertaining. His presentation and 10 rules has provided us with a catalyst for change within the organisation with lots of the delegates committed to taking the 10 rules back to their teams. It was a timely reminder that we are all in control of our own attitude and decisions. Highly recommended. Heather Bolton, Programme Director, The Health & Safety Executive.
Jim was excellent - amusing, inspiring and really backed up the key messages from our conference. A fantastic keynote speaker.
Very energising. Just what was needed.
Jim was amusing, thought provoking and inspiring!
On behalf of the Coventry & Warwickshire Leadership &Management Group please accept our sincere thanks for a very entertaining and inspirational talk. Feedack has been excellent. Jan Spalding - Chair
I have worked with Jim on stage at three high-profile Barclaycard leaders' conferences. Not only is he engaging, challenging, inspiring and very funny but he delivers a practical, compelling model for achieving results which he has risked his life on the racecourse to prove.
This was a very important event for my department. Your challenging and inspiring presentation and professional (but hilarious) hosting made the day for us. One of the delegates went straight back and ran a 'Taming Tigers' training session for his own team! No racehorses where involved, thank heavens.
You did an outstanding job closing our European Sales Kickoff in Barcelona, you delivered a faultless performance, capturing our imagination with your racing analogies and using humour to engage with a pan-European audience. The '10 rules for taming tigers' resonated with our people.
Exciting, Inspiring and extremely motivational.
Jim was a brilliant speaker - He fully engaged our audience from start to finish - I would definitely recommend Jim to other clients.
JIM WAS A BRILLIANT SPEAKER- HE FULLY ENGAGED OUR AUDIENCE FROM START TO FINISH - I WOULD DEFINITLY RECOMMEND JIM TO OTHER CLIENTS.
Great speaker with a lot of experience
Brilliant! Thoroughly engaging and with a message that can resonate with his entire audience. We had a client who had attended the session emailing us their plans to "act boldly". Thought the coaching and motivational aspects were expertly mixed with fantastic delivery and fun when appropriate. Am looking forward to reading my book!
Q & A with Jim Lawless

Speakers Corner: How did the corporate speaking start?
Jim Lawless: A trusted mentor suggested that I could do it and, more importantly, he persuaded me that I had something worthy of sharing. I kept arguing that he was wrong – right up to the end of the second gig
Speakers Corner: Can you remember your first speaking engagement?
Jim Lawless: It was unforgettable. I managed to fill thirty minutes of a one hour slot. I had carefully prepared it all at home, but in the room nerves won out. I was swinging wildly from one sturdy vine to another and forgetting to hang out with the flowers and the birds in between. If I hadn’t been invited by a member of that audience to speak at an imminent event for him, the speaking side of my career would have ended that day.
Speakers Corner: And your last event?
Jim Lawless: My last event is far in the future, in a far away land and I can’t remember it yet!
Speakers Corner: Which event has been your favourite and why?
Jim Lawless: Every event where tired eyes start to twinkle with excitement again and the worldly wise person in the third row, who won’t even return my gaze at the start, slowly starts to smile or nod is a success. I guess riding around jockey-style, perched on the seat of a Harley with around 3,000 people in the audience at HP Software Universe in Nice sticks in the mind also.
Speakers Corner: If you could speak at any event, past or future, what would it be?
Jim Lawless: My wedding. My path and that of my bride have yet to meet, however!
Speakers Corner: Who would you most like to share a platform with?
Jim Lawless: Jesus Christ, Mohandas Ghandi and Carl Jung. I’d settle for a seat in the crowd at that one and leave the speaking up to them.
Speakers Corner: On average, how many times a year do you speak at corporate events?
Jim Lawless: About 68 -72
Speakers Corner: Do you use PowerPoint?
Jim Lawless: Yes as background slides
Speakers Corner: Are you as happy speaking to 50 as to 1,000 people?
Jim Lawless: Yes
Speakers Corner: How do you like to be introduced?
Jim Lawless: I have a standard wording which I like to use which ties in with the DVD.
Speakers Corner: Do you always like to do a briefing call before the event?
Jim Lawless: Yes
Speakers Corner: What are the most asked for topics?
Jim Lawless: Taming Tigers which can be tailored to meet specific requirements of the client.
Speakers Corner: Is your speech interactive with audience participation?
Jim Lawless: Yes
Speakers Corner: Your favourite film?
Jim Lawless: Citizen Kane. A reminder of how very wrong it can go if we don’t catch ourselves early enough.
Speakers Corner: Favourite book?
Jim Lawless: My battered old copy of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse.
Speakers Corner: Favourite holiday destination?
Jim Lawless: Dahab on the Red Sea. I go there to reflect in the desert, write on the shore, freedive in the Blue Hole and laugh with friends.
Speakers Corner: What’s your tipple?
Jim Lawless: Mint tea! I am completely teetotal these days.
Speakers Corner: Country or townie?
Jim Lawless: Why choose? I enjoy motorbiking around London and tasting all that it has to offer. But I wouldn’t miss my time visiting the countryside.
