Jo Malone Biography
Jo Malone is an entrepreneur whose first eponymous line of fragrances is still one of the world’s best selling luxury lines. She is a creative and innovative keynote speaker with an inspirational story to tell.
Having left school at a 13 with no qualifications, Jo worked as a beauty therapist in her London flat and began mixing bath oils for clients in her kitchen. Her hand made products became increasingly popular and eventually Jo opened her first Jo Malone London store in London in 1994. Four years later, she launched within the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City.
In 1999 Jo sold the Jo Malone London business to Estée Lauder Companies and continued to work as Creative Director until her exit in 2006. Two years later Jo was rewarded with an MBE for her services to the beauty industry.
In 2010, Jo used her talents as an entrepreneur and business woman to present the four part TV series ‘High Street Dreams’. The concept of the series, thought up by Jo herself, was to help small businesses realise their dreams of trading on the Great British high street. The show was successful in creating six new British Brands.
Jo has shared her experiences of business and branding in publications, radio and on numerous television shows including BBC One’s The Apprentice; You’re Hired, BBC Two’s Working Lunch, ITV1’s Loose Women and Lorraine.
Jo’s passion for perfume and creative flair are the reason why her first brand became a global success and having achieved so much already, it is hard to believe that the best is yet to come from Jo in the form of her new business JO LOVES which launched in 2011.
JO LOVES encapsulates a collection of lifestyle fragrances, which tell the story of wonderful memories and moments in time, combined with Jo’s desire to create new product concepts and put the entertainment back into retail.
