Monty Halls Biography
BBC presenter Monty Halls is an experienced and charismatic motivational and after dinner speaker. He brings his wealth of experience to life and draws on his adventures to speak on change with respect to the world we live in; and how it relates to a business environment, and how to perform under stress.
Background and career
An ex-Royal Marines Officer, a broadcaster, explorer and writer, Monty has led international teams through some of the most demanding environments on earth, for over twenty years. He has worked for Nelson Mandela as part of the peace process in South Africa, was awarded the BISH Medal for services to exploration.
Monty’s latest BBC series, Monty Halls' Great Irish Escape, precedes a further two series, one about our inshore fishing fleet and one about the Great Barrier Reef, both set to air in 2012.
His television career began when he won Channel Four’s Superhuman competition in 2004. Since then he has presented series and documentaries for the Discovery Channel, The National Geographic Channel, BBC1 and BBC2, Channel 4, and the History Channel.
Other projects have taken place on the west coast of Scotland, where he lived in a tiny bothy on a beach for six months, following in the footsteps of his hero Gavin Maxwell. This series aired on BBC2 in 2009 as "Monty Halls Great Escape", hitting viewing figures of over 3 million. He returned in early 2010 from a further six months as a nature ranger in the Outer Hebrides, an experience recorded for the second series on BBC2 called "Monty Halls Great Hebridean Escape".

Monty style is very engaging. He was very inspirational and gave a lot of practical advice that was put across in a simple manner with an excellent mix of humour. The feedback from the business, learning and development team was fantastic!
I have been attending these conferences for a decade, and that is the best presentation Ive ever seen.
The feedback on his session from the audience had been 100% positive. Monty gave an outstanding presentation in terms of approach, style and enthusiasm. He took the time to understand some things about our company and what the event was all about and used this information in a proactive way to further keep the audience hooked. Not only did he give an outstanding performance, he was also a pleasure to work with.
Monty is an outstanding speaker and even audiences who are jaded by conference overload are electrified by his passion and zest for life. We wanted our conference to end with a bang and with Monty we got something on an atomic scale. Hire him whilst you can still afford him, and remind everyone to fasten seatbelts and extinguish cigarettes before the talk begins!
Monty was a big hit and we have had lots of positive feedback. His presentation was motivating and funny and he really worked the networking theme into it. It was great that he was able to stay after the talk and mingle with our guests. They all really enjoyed his company. Please pass on my thanks to Monty. We were all extremely pleased with the evening and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
His talks were riveting; his enthusiasm, energy and deep interest in his subject matter comes through. He uses the whole stage area and his body to talk, striding around the stage, across the screen-pictures pointing and illustrating, demonstrating with his body the movements of the fish etc. Around the ship he readily talked to passengers. I think we can say he was a hit both on and off stage!
I just wanted to drop you an email and say an enormous thank you to Monty for being our after dinner speaker at our International Business Awards. He went down an absolute storm; the whole audience was captivated by his entertaining style, energy and superb speech. He was also excellent company throughout dinner!
We had some terrific feedback: 92% of attendees rated the session as excellent. And when asked how inspiring they found the speaker, again 92% rated Monty as excellent. Here are some of the comments: As well as being highly entertaining, it drove home its point that attitude is key to success. If you are able to re-run next year, I will certainly be sending my team along as I think it aimed as much at team members as leaders. The best Empower Hour of the year! He was absolutely tremendous! In my opinion the best talk so far, inspiring and witty at the same time.I would love Monty to come back and speak more. An inspiring, excellent speaker, funny and refreshingly self-critical.Superb session: likely the best speech I've seen given in the UK.
The event went even better than we could have hoped and Monty was a delight. He had obviously spent some considerable time before the event, incorporating our key messages into his presentation and the resulting mix was both entertaining and informative. Our Execs were so pleased that we were able to find someone who could deliver a message with so much humour and honesty.
Two standing ovations! Monty was excellent, relaxed and professional. Key objectives were met and messages on effective leadership were well delivered in a fun and engaging manner. The audience loved Monty. Overall? Excellent!
The presentation really was quite superb and totally met my brief. It was interesting, engaging, funny, exciting and as I say totally hit the mark with the brief and more importantly, the team. Several people stated that Monty was the best motivational speaker weve ever had.
A huge, massive enormous thank you! It was a huge success. Monty was fantastic. Everyone in the room was laughing and riveted by his presentation which was pitched totally at the right level and aimed directly at all those learners who had worked hard, and who for many, had overcome personal barriers to learning.
Monty Halls gave an outstanding presentation at our Harrogate and Hull Conventions. His talk was engaging, humorous and challenged our audience to step outside of their comfort zones. This guy has been there, done it and really knows how to talk about it!. I would recommend him to any organisation or conference needing a truly inspirational speaker. Great value!
We are lucky enough to have speakers at all our conferences and can safely say, Monty speech was one of the best I have ever heard.
Monty was highly entertaining and stimulated our Managers to think about the process of change in a positive way.
Thanks for the perfect opening to our Sports Colleges Conference - you set the tone for the next two days brilliantly!
