Professor Hahn is a non-executive director of various for profit and public sector entities, having been a Managing Director in banking, a full-time university Dean and the former Henry Grunfeld Professor of Banking & Finance, and Senior Advisor to the Bank of England. He is an exceptional keynote speaker, full of funny stories about what has gone right and wrong throughout finance and which lead to highly informative and entertaining speaking; he has vast knowledge of banking, finance, regulation, the media, and government.

After a 20+ year banking career, beginning as a retail intern and ending as Citigroup’s Senior Corporate Financial Officer for the UK, Pete completed his PhD in Finance and won a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the UK’s Foundation for Management Education and Economic & Social Research Council in 2007.

Beginning his teaching career as a fellow at Cass Business School, Pete retired from his executive commitments as Dean & Professor at The London Institute of Banking & Authority (FSA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority of the Bank of England through 2014. His advisory subjects have included governance, remuneration, business models, capital & liquidity, recovery & resolution and the challenges of financial services and regulation.

As of 2020, Pete has been a board member of the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority, where he is also Chairman of the Island’s Resolution Committee. He’s also a board member of Association of Corporate Treasurers (Royal Charter Professional Body), Kalgera Limited (a FinTech/RegTech focused on aiding the vulnerable), foundations, his community association ad local political party committee.

Pete holds vast experience with appearing on media channels, including being questioned on live television for Parliament’s Treasury Committee hearings, being interviewed over 300 times by the BBC. Including Radio Four’s Today Programme and he continues to be regularly quoted in international media outlets.

Along with client exposure to the vast majority of major UK corporations and financial institutions, Pete has taught over 3000 students and worked with international regulators on topical issues; including written contributions to the Basel III guidance. He was also selected to be the European Parliament’s Advisor on Recovery & Resolution shortly prior to the UK’s Brexit vote – a role that never began!
