Rhodri Owen Biography
Rhodri Owen is firmly established in Wales as one of the most popular awards hosts and presenters in the business, and is without doubt one of its most sought after Lifestyle, Travel, Property, and Consumer faces. No matter what the programme theme, the emphasis is on his warmth and relationship with people.
Background and career
Rhodri is currently hosting Wedi3 a Welsh 'This Morning' style live programme and X-Ray, a Welsh ‘Watchdog’ style show on BBC Wales. Whilst hosting the show it has won a BAFTA for the most popular consumer show. Rhodri has been hosting it since 2004!
Recently Rhodri has published his first book Bwyd Bwyd Bwyd about his love and passion for food and encouraging children to eat healthily.
His extensive TV credits on both Welsh and Network TV include – Britain’s Dream Homes (BBC2), The One Show (BBC1), Hard Cash (BBC1), Liquid Assets (BBC3), Holiday (BBC1), Wish You Were Here (ITV1), Ghost Towns (Living), 4X4 (BBC1), National Eisteddfod (BBC 2), Short Change (CBBC1), Holiday in Style (UKStyle), Noc Noc (S4C), Y Briodas Fawr (S4C), Paparazzi (S4C), Uned5 (S4C), Eisteddfod yr Urdd (S4C), Safe as Houses (BBC1 Wales), opera documentaries (S4C), Brecon Jazz, and the Royal Welsh Show, to name but a few.
He has also had many of his own TV ideas commissioned. From Wales with Love (O Gymru Fach - 6x60) Paparazzi (12x30) Matthew Rhys and Mr Hollywood (60min doc).
Rhodri has hosted radio breakfast shows on Capital radio's Red Dragon FM, and had his own Saturday morning programme on Radio Cymru.
He also has vast voice over experience doing trails and promotions for BBC 1, BBC 1 Wales, Radio 5 Live, S4C and Red Dragon FM. He was also station voice for Radio Wales. He has performed the voice for the lead character of a Welsh cartoon series.
