One of the most successful British programmes, Top Gear, has been loved by Americans for years without them legally being able to obtain the programme. At last, an American version is in production. BBC World Productions is making the series and it will be aired in the States in the autumn on the History Channel.
The three British presenters of Top Gear - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are being replaced by:
- Adam Ferrara who is a well known comedian who is a regular talk show guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman etc.
- Tanner Foust, a stuntman who's film credits include It The Bourne Ultimatum, The Fast & the Furious etc.
- Rultledge Wood, a reporter who often commentates on American car racing.
It is not yet clear whether an American Stig will feature in the new series.
