Arjun Rajyagor Wins Junior Apprentice 2010

11th June 2010

17 year old Arjun from Essex won the first series of Junior Apprentice last night, and the maths wizard will now receive £25,000 to set up a business venture.  The juniors showed the adults a thing or two as they posted the biggest profits ever recorded since The Apprentice began, with one team returning from a sales trip to Holland with £40,000.  Lord Sugar has shown something of his cuddly side in this series as ‘Uncle Lord Sugar’, flanked by his trusted assistants and business experts Nick Hewer and Karren Brady.  Nick has been in charge of Lord Sugar’s PR for over 25 years but it took quite a while for Alan to persuade him to take part in the show.  Thankfully Nick eventually agreed, and he has since established himself as a great keynote and after dinner speaker.  Karren has also established herself firmly on the show after taking over from Margaret Mountford, and has enjoyed a very successful year with her appointment as Vice-Chairman of West Ham United FC in January.  Karren is also an England 2018 Board Member and has recently teamed up with Scope to launch the first private-equity style investment for the voluntary sector.

Following The Apprentice’s and Junior Apprentice’s success this year, applications have now opened for The Apprentice 2011, and the speaking skills used in The Apprentice’s boardroom – as well as the selling skills in Dragon’s Den and the interviewing skills of Jeremy Paxman and Michael Parkinson – are even being included in the English GCSE as case studies for examining different speaking skills.  Dragon’s Den also recently began filming for the eighth series and the dragons have enjoyed a busy few months.  Peter Jones took part in BBC Sport Relief 2010 as the fund-raising guru, and his most successful investment to date Reggae Reggae Sauce, has taken entrepreneur Levi Roots from nothing to millionaire wealth, and Levi himself is now a very inspiring keynote and motivational speaker.  The online dragons and venture capitalists Julie Meyer – regarded as one of the 30 most powerful women in Europe – and Shaf Rasul, have also been taking care of entrepreneurs in their online den since 2009.

So it is business as usual in the boardroom, and business as usual on the football pitch today.  It is time to finally let the feet do the talking...
