Philanthropist and veteran rocker Sir Bob Geldof, has been granted the Freedom of the City of London at a star-studded ceremony at the Guildhall in London.
Sir Bob was honoured for his extensive humanitarian work, particularly in Africa.
The Irish singer was instrumental in staging Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in London in 1985 to raise funds to combat the Ethiopian famine.
The Boomtown Rats star is already a freeman of the city of Dublin, after being awarded the honour in the Irish capital in March 2006.
Previously the award has been given to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling; Dame Judi Dench; Sir Michael Caine and actor Damian Lewis.
