David Walliams Confirmed for Britain's Got Talent

5 January 2012

Awards host and comedian David Walliams  has been confirmed as the latest addition to the judging panel on the next series of Britain’s Got Talent, alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and new judge Alesha Dixon, who has made the move from Strictly Come Dancing.

The Little Britain star joked: ‘I am so thrilled to be the new Cheryl Cole.’

Walliams has reportedly signed a two- year deal, after comedian Michael McIntyre  stepped down.

The cash prize for this year’s competition has been upped from £100,000 to £500,000, as well as the slot on the Royal Variety Performance.

Simon Cowell said: "I’m absolutely delighted David is joining the panel. He thinks he can do a better job than the people there before so it's going to be fun. I think he's terrified."
