Ian Livingstone, founder of Games Workshop wins British Inspiration Award

29th April 2010

Games Workshop founder and Eidos Life President Ian Livingstone has been awarded the Interactive Entertainment gong at the British Inspiration Awards. The keynote speaker, best known for his work on Tomb Raider and Hitman, was presented with the award for the interactive entertainment category, ahead of Rockstar president Sam Houser and Codemasters founders Richard and David Darling.

The British Inspiration Awards will now be held annually, after being set up this year to honour Britain’s most creative minds across a range of categories, including interactive entertainment, film, TV, music, fashion and the Arts.

Other winners included the late designer Alexander McQueen (fashion), ‘the fifth Beatle’ Sir George Martin (music), Elisabeth Murdoch (TV) and Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis (Special Recognition Category).

The event has received the backing of all three main political parties, while its executive committee is headed by David Yarnton, UK managing director of Nintendo.

Mr Yarnton said: "The UK is the creative capital of the world. With the same hard work, drive and determination shown by the winners and all our nominees, creative people can excel in this country."
