Stand up comedian and experienced awards host Jack Whitehall will be gracing UK TV screens once again in the second series of student comedy drama Fresh Meat, commissioned by Channel 4.
Although the initial eight episodes have not finished airing, the broadcaster has committed to a second series, written by Peep Show creators Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain. The show’s ensemble cast includes stand-up Whitehall alongside Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas.
The second run is expected to air late in 2012.
Fresh Meat attracted 1.7million viewers to the first airing of its initial episode, beating both Big Brother and Never Mind The Buzzcocks in the ratings. Channel 4 head of drama, Camilla Campbell said: ‘I am delighted that our strong series output has been recognised with a recommission.’
